What if I told you that there are seven characteristics that the strongest critical thinkers possess?
Let me introduce you to COACHES. Each of these characteristics allows us to stay calm and apply various strategies when making important decisions. Let me share this gift with you during this holiday season.

SEVEN CHARACTERISTICS OF CRITICAL THINKERS COACHES allows you to consider your approach toward thinking more critically in the way you tackle tough information. During your thinking process, you must demonstrate you have followed these seven ideals:
Curiosity – Actively seek new information that directly contributes to the final outcome. Ask as many questions as you possibly can until you exhaust yourself!
Objectivity – Remove any biases, limitations, and assumptions as you gather information during the process. Objectivity allows you to understand multiple perspectives.
Active Listening – Actively seek and participate in dialogue with those who have excellent and credible insights to share.
Contextualization – Always look to see how the information gathered fits into the overall mission. It’s important to focus on details, but also stand back and look at the big picture, and the related context.
Humility - Being humble allows you to accept and see information in a way that is not filtered through your ego. You should have the self-confidence to believe in the information you provide, but understand that you are “one voice of many” in the process.
Emotional Control – This doesn’t mean remove all emotion out of the equation! It means that you can balance your rational thought against your feelings in order to build more creativity and buy-in for others.
Self-Awareness - This means we are acutely aware of our own feelings, opinions, and assumptions. This requires you to evaluate, reflect, and regulate based on individual situations. With COACHES, you can understand that you neutrally and openly found meaningful information to guide your decision, and rationally conclude that the information provided is purposeful, meaningful, and effective.
